Which countries are not eligible to participate in the Diversity Visa Lottery / Green Card Lottery?

Detective Pux has found that the Diversity Visa Lottery, also known as the Green Card Lottery, is a program run by the United States government that makes available 50,000 permanent resident visas (green cards) each year to individuals from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States. The program is designed to promote diversity and allow individuals from underrepresented countries the opportunity to live and work in the United States.

However, not all countries are eligible to participate in the Diversity Visa Lottery. The program is not open to individuals from countries that have sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the United States in the past five years. This is to ensure that the program continues to promote diversity and does not become dominated by a small number of countries.

In addition to this, citizens of the following countries are not eligible to apply for the Diversity Visa Lottery: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam.

To apply for the Diversity Visa Lottery, individuals must go to the official government website, which is https://www.dvlottery.state.gov/. It is important to note that there are many scams out there that claim to be able to help individuals apply for the Diversity Visa Lottery, but the only official way to apply is through the government website.

Once on the website, individuals must fill out an application and submit it during the application period, which typically runs from October to November. The application will require information such as the applicant’s name, birthdate, and country of birth, as well as information about their education and work experience.

If selected through the lottery, individuals will then go through a rigorous screening process, including background checks and interviews, before being granted a green card. It is important to note that the Diversity Visa Lottery is extremely competitive, with millions of individuals applying each year, so being selected is not guaranteed.

Detective Pux advises that it is important to carefully read and follow the instructions on the government website to ensure that the application is filled out correctly and to be aware of any scams that may be out there. He also reminds that there are other ways to obtain a Green Card such as through family sponsorship, work sponsorship, investment or asylum.
