How to make the perfect doughnut?

Detective Pux here, and I'm here to show you how to make the perfect doughnut, just like those from Krispy Kreme. But before we get into the recipe, let me first give you a little background on what makes a doughnut from Krispy Kreme so special.

Krispy Kreme is known for its light and fluffy doughnuts that are made fresh daily. They use a secret yeast-raised dough recipe that results in a doughnut with a crispy exterior and a soft, pillowy interior. And let me tell you, it's a crime to not have a taste of one of their doughnuts.

Now, for the recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast
  • 3 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the milk and sugar over low heat until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool to lukewarm.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the yeast and lukewarm milk mixture. Let it sit for 5 minutes or until the mixture becomes frothy.
  3. In another bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  4. In the yeast mixture, add the flour mixture, eggs, and butter. Mix well until the dough comes together.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  7. Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness.
  8. Use a doughnut cutter or a large round cookie cutter and a smaller round cookie cutter to cut out the doughnuts.
  9. Place the doughnuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. In a deep fryer or a large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F.
  11. Carefully place the doughnuts into the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  12. Use a slotted spoon to remove the doughnuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  13. Let the doughnuts cool for a few minutes before glazing or dusting with powdered sugar.

And there you have it, the perfect doughnut just like Krispy Kreme. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go solve a case. But before I go, let me leave you with one final piece of advice: practice makes perfect, so don't get discouraged if your doughnuts don't turn out perfectly the first time. Happy baking!
